A delicious and comforting banana bread latte that can be enjoyed iced or hot, featuring a homemade banana syrup made with ripe bananas, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla. This easy-to-make beverage combines the warm flavors of banana bread with the rich taste of espresso or strong brewed coffee, topped with creamy milk and optional vanilla maple cold foam for extra indulgence.

  • Total Time: 12 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Banana Syrup

  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Banana Latte

  • 2 tbsp banana syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1-2 shots espresso or ½ cup strong brewed coffee (cooled)
  • ¾ cup milk or non-dairy milk
  • Ice (for iced latte)

Vanilla Maple Cold Foam (Optional)

  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Optional Garnishes

  • Banana slices
  • Cinnamon
  • Maple drizzle

Instructions

  1. Make the Banana Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine mashed bananas, maple syrup, water, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Simmer over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture slightly thickens. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let it cool slightly, then strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth until smooth. Store the syrup in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  2. Prepare the Banana Iced Latte: Pour 2 tablespoons of banana syrup into a glass filled with ice. Add 1-2 shots of espresso or ½ cup of cooled strong brewed coffee. Pour in ¾ cup of milk or your preferred non-dairy milk and stir well. For extra frothiness, shake the mixture in a cocktail shaker. Garnish with banana slices, a sprinkle of cinnamon, or a drizzle of maple syrup if desired, then enjoy.
  3. Prepare the Banana Hot Latte: Heat ¾ cup of milk until warm and frothy using a milk frother or on the stovetop. In a mug, combine 2 tablespoons of banana syrup with 1-2 shots of espresso. Pour the steamed milk over the mixture, stir to combine, and enjoy. Optionally, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or foam from the frothed milk.
  4. Make the Vanilla Maple Cold Foam (Optional): In a small jar or milk frother, combine ¼ cup heavy cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract), and 1 teaspoon maple syrup. Froth the mixture until thick, creamy, yet still pourable. Spoon this foam over your iced banana latte or cold brew coffee and enjoy the extra layer of flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of banana syrup in your latte to suit your sweetness preference.
  • The banana syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Use non-dairy milk like oat, almond, or soy milk for a vegan alternative.
  • For a richer taste, try using vanilla bean paste instead of vanilla extract.
  • Warm the milk gently to avoid scorching when preparing the hot latte.
  • Espresso or strong brewed coffee can be substituted according to what you have available.
  • The cold foam adds a delicious creamy topping but is optional.
  • Garnishes enhance presentation and extra flavor but are not required.
