Ingredients
Beef Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 oz taco seasoning packet
- 0.5 cup water
- 6 strips cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Dough and Topping
- 16 oz refrigerated pizza dough
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Cook Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, then drain the fat. Add the taco seasoning and water to the skillet, and let it simmer until the mixture thickens slightly, ensuring the beef is flavorful and well-coated.
- Add Bacon and Cheese: Stir in the crumbled cooked bacon and shredded cheddar cheese thoroughly into the beef mixture. Set this savory filling aside to cool slightly.
- Prepare Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a rectangular shape approximately 10 by 15 inches, ready for filling.
- Assemble Rollups: Evenly spread the beef, bacon, and cheese mixture over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges free of filling for sealing. Carefully roll the dough into a tight log shape and pinch the seams together to seal the roll fully.
- Slice: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled log into 1-inch thick pieces to create individual rollups.
- Prepare Butter Topping: Melt the unsalted butter in a small bowl and mix in the minced garlic and chopped fresh parsley. Brush this garlic butter generously over the tops of the rollup slices for savory flavor and a golden finish.
- Bake: Arrange the rollups spaced evenly on the prepared baking sheet, then bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until they are golden brown and deliciously cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the rollups to cool slightly after baking so they firm up a bit and are easier to handle. Serve warm for the best taste experience.
Notes
- Use freshly cooked bacon for best texture and flavor.
- Ensure the ground beef is drained well to prevent soggy dough.
- You can substitute cheddar cheese with a mix of mozzarella and cheddar for a different cheese blend.
- Brush the garlic butter on warm rollups right after baking for a stronger garlic aroma.
- Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
