  • Total Time: 22 minutes
  • Yield: 32 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

Decorations

  • 6 tablespoons red, white, and pink sprinkles, divided (5 tablespoons in dough, 1 tablespoon for topping)
  • 1/2 cup Valentine’s M&M’s
  • 2 bags Reese’s peanut butter hearts (chocolate & white chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Lightly spray an 11×17 inch baking sheet with nonstick baking spray to ensure the cookie bars don’t stick.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter, creamy peanut butter, granulated sugar, and packed brown sugar until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Then add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating again until fully incorporated.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda, salt, and 5 tablespoons of the red, white, and pink sprinkles. Gradually beat this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until fully combined into a cookie dough.
  4. Spread dough and add candies: Evenly spread the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan. Press a grid pattern of Reese’s peanut butter hearts and Valentine’s M&M’s over the entire surface of the dough to decorate and infuse candy flavor.
  5. Bake the bars: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 11 to 12 minutes, or until the cookie bars are set and edges just start to turn golden.
  6. Cool and garnish: Remove the baking sheet from oven and transfer to a wire rack to cool. While still warm, sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of sprinkles over the melted peanut butter hearts. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely before cutting into 32 squares for serving.

Notes

  • Be sure to use softened butter for easier mixing and better texture in the dough.
  • Press candies gently into the dough to avoid sinking during baking.
  • Let the bars cool completely to ensure clean cuts and prevent crumbling.
  • Store cookie bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
