Cheese Roll Ups are a quick and delicious snack made by rolling sharp cheddar cheese inside flattened white bread slices, then pan-frying until golden brown and melty. This simple recipe produces crispy, buttery rolls perfect for a savory treat or appetizer in just minutes.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread (crusts removed)
  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or Monterey Jack, Colby, Swiss)
  • Melted butter (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Flatten the bread: Using a rolling pin, roll each slice of bread flat to make them easier to roll and to create a thin base for the cheese.
  2. Add the cheese and roll up: Place one slice of sharp cheddar cheese on each flattened bread slice. Alternatively, you can use 2-3 tablespoons of grated cheddar. Carefully roll up the bread and cheese, then secure each roll with a toothpick to hold the shape.
  3. Butter the rolls: Brush the outside of each roll with melted butter, or quickly roll them in the melted butter to coat all sides evenly for crispiness.
  4. Pan-fry the rolls: Place the rolls seam side down in a pan over medium heat. Use tongs to turn and cook each side until the bread is browned all around and the cheese inside is fully melted.

Notes

  • You can substitute the cheese with any of your choice such as Monterey Jack, Colby, or Swiss for different flavors.
  • Removing crusts from the bread helps in rolling and gives a uniform texture.
  • Make sure to cook on medium heat to allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread.
  • Serve immediately for the best warm and gooey texture.
