Ingredients
Slider Filling
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (85% lean preferred)
- 1 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon oil (for sautéing)
Assembly and Topping
- 12 slider buns (soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian rolls)
- 6–8 slices provolone cheese
- 4 tablespoons (56g) butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Optional Toppings
- Hot sauce
- Sliced jalapeños
- Pickled peppers
- Mushrooms
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully slice the entire pack of slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact. Place the bottom half in a 9×13-inch baking dish to form the base.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and green bell pepper. Sauté them, stirring occasionally, until they become soft and golden, about 5–7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Cook Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spatula and cook until browned and no longer pink, approximately 5–8 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary to reduce greasiness.
- Season Beef Mixture: Sprinkle Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper over the beef mixture. Stir well to combine all flavors. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed to your preference.
- Assemble Sliders: Evenly spoon the cooked beef mixture over the bottom half of the slider buns arranged in the baking dish. Layer provolone cheese slices generously over the beef, overlapping them for full coverage.
- Add Bun Tops and Garlic Butter: Place the top half of the buns over the beef and cheese filling. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder. Brush this garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the buns to add flavor and promote browning.
- Bake Sliders: Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve: Allow the sliders to cool for 5 minutes before cutting along the bun lines. Serve hot, optionally adding hot sauce, sliced jalapeños, pickled peppers, or mushrooms to taste.
Notes
- You can use Hawaiian rolls for a slightly sweeter flavor that pairs well with the savory beef mixture.
- Drain the excess fat after cooking the beef to prevent soggy buns.
- Feel free to customize with additional toppings like mushrooms or jalapeños for extra flavor and heat.
- These sliders can be made ahead and reheated in the oven wrapped with foil.
- Use a sharp serrated knife to cut the sliders neatly without squishing them.
