These Protein Balls are a quick and easy no-bake snack packed with peanut butter, protein powder, oats, flaxseed, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for a nutritious energy boost, they combine wholesome ingredients into bite-sized treats that can be stored in the fridge or freezer for convenience.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats (or quick oats; do not use instant oatmeal)
  • 1/4 cup ground flaxseed meal
  • 3 tablespoons mini chocolate chips (or unsweetened shredded coconut or a mix)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup drippy peanut butter (or almond butter or sun butter)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or pure maple syrup)
  • Water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, add the peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, rolled oats, ground flaxseed meal, mini chocolate chips, honey, and chia seeds.
  2. Mix Dough: Use a wooden spoon, sturdy rubber spatula, or your hands to mix everything together thoroughly until a dough forms.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Check the dough’s consistency. If it is too dry, add water one teaspoon at a time. If too wet and sticky, add a few teaspoons of additional protein powder or oats. Aim for a dough that’s easy to roll, similar to cookie dough.
  4. Rest Dough: Let the dough sit for a few minutes so the oats and protein powder can absorb moisture, then adjust the consistency again if needed.
  5. Portion and Roll: Using a 1 tablespoon cookie scoop, portion the dough into your hands and roll into balls. Wet your hands lightly if the dough sticks or feels too dry.
  6. Store: Refrigerate the protein balls for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Use drippy nut butter to help binder the mixture; thicker nut butters might need extra water.
  • Adjust sweetness by substituting honey with maple syrup or leaving out if preferred less sweet.
  • For variation, substitute chocolate chips with shredded coconut or mixed additions.
  • These protein balls are no-bake, making them an easy, quick healthy snack.
  • Keep refrigerated to maintain shape and freshness.
