Ingredients
Brownie Batter
- Cooking spray, for greasing
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks
Topping
- 3 cups strawberries, stems removed
- Chocolate melting wafers, for drizzling
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, vegetable oil, melted butter, water, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together sugar, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, confectioners’ sugar, and kosher salt thoroughly until evenly mixed.
- Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently mix just until combined to avoid overmixing, which can affect brownie texture.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Carefully fold the chocolate chips or chunks into the batter, distributing them evenly throughout the mixture.
- Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until the brownies are set in the center and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the Brownies: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan to firm up and make slicing easier.
- Add Strawberries: Once cooled, arrange the strawberries on top of the brownies with the cut side facing down for an attractive presentation.
- Melt Chocolate and Drizzle: Melt the chocolate wafers following the package instructions. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the strawberries, creating an appealing finish. Allow the chocolate to firm up before serving.
- Serve: Slice the brownies and serve them as a delicious dessert or snack.
Notes
- You may substitute melted chocolate chips for the chocolate melting wafers when drizzling over the strawberries.
- Ensure brownies are completely cooled before adding strawberries and drizzling chocolate to prevent melting and sliding.
- For best results, use fresh, ripe strawberries to complement the rich brownie flavors.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
