This creamy Cajun chicken with bowtie pasta is a flavorful, comforting dish ready in just 30 minutes. Tender bite-sized chicken breast is seared with Cajun spices and combined with al dente bowtie pasta in a rich, cheesy sauce featuring heavy cream, cream cheese, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Finished with fresh parsley for a bright touch, this recipe serves six and is perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 1 pound bowtie pasta

Chicken

  • 1.5 pounds boneless chicken breast, bite-sized
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil Pasta: Cook the bowtie pasta in salted boiling water until it is al dente, then drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Sear Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, then season the bite-sized chicken breast pieces with Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Brown the chicken thoroughly until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Build Sauce: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add Cheese: Whisk in the softened cream cheese until the sauce is smooth. Then stir in half of the shredded mozzarella and all the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce becomes creamy and cheesy.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and add the drained pasta. Toss everything together to coat the pasta and chicken evenly with the creamy sauce.
  6. Serve: Garnish the dish with freshly chopped parsley and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top before serving warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or extra Cajun seasoning.
  • Use freshly grated cheeses for the best melting and flavor.
  • If the sauce is too thick, thin it with a splash of additional chicken broth or cream.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop.
