Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the blondies.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and packed light brown sugar until well combined. Add the egg, honey, and vanilla extract, whisking until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the all-purpose flour, salt, and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix just until everything is incorporated; the batter should be thick and slightly lumpy to avoid overmixing which could toughen the blondies.
- Prepare Baking Pan: Pour the blondie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out to smooth the surface.
- Add Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Combine the granulated sugar with the remaining ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the batter to create a sweet, flavorful crust.
- Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 22 to 25 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the blondies from the oven and let them cool completely in the pan for about 20 minutes. Once cooled, cut into 16 squares and serve.
Notes
- Make sure not to overmix the batter once the flour is added to keep the blondies tender.
- For easier removal, lining the pan with parchment paper is recommended over just greasing.
- These blondies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- Adding nuts or chocolate chips can enhance texture and flavor if desired.
- Check the blondies a few minutes before the suggested baking time to avoid overbaking, which can dry them out.
