This fast pizza dough recipe offers a quick and easy way to prepare homemade pizza crust with minimal rising time using quick rise instant yeast. With a simple combination of staple ingredients like flour, sugar, salt, yeast, water, and olive oil, you can create a soft, slightly sticky dough that’s perfect for making delicious, fresh pizza in under 30 minutes. The dough can also be frozen for up to 3 months, allowing for convenient, ready-to-bake meals anytime.

  • Total Time: 32 minutes
  • Yield: 2 pizzas (10 to 12 inch each)

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 to cups all-purpose flour (pizza flour or bread flour) (480 to 540 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (13 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons salt (12 grams)
  • 2¼ teaspoons quick rise instant yeast (7 grams or 1 packet)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1½ cups warm water (354 grams)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (39 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) if you plan to bake the pizza immediately. This ensures a hot cooking environment for a crispy crust.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and quick rise instant yeast. Whisk these together to evenly distribute the ingredients.
  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in the warm water and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until the ingredients are combined into a rough dough. If the dough is too wet and sticky, gradually add additional flour until it forms a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  4. Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook to knead the dough thoroughly.
  5. Let Dough Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl and let it rest at room temperature. For quick rise instant yeast, allow 10 to 15 minutes for the dough to nearly double in size. (If using regular instant yeast, rising will take 60 to 90 minutes.)
  6. Divide Dough: Punch down the dough gently and divide it into two equal balls for two pizzas.
  7. Freeze or Prepare: At this stage, you may freeze the dough for later use or proceed to prepare the pizzas.
  8. Freeze Dough: Lightly coat each dough ball with olive oil to prevent sticking. Wrap each in plastic wrap and seal inside a zipper-seal bag, removing as much air as possible before freezing. Dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  9. Shape Dough for Baking: Roll out each dough ball on parchment paper or a greased baking sheet into 10 to 12-inch circles. Create a rim by rolling and pinching the edges of the dough.
  10. Add Toppings: Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough and add your favorite toppings and cheese.
  11. Bake the Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crust edges turn golden brown and cheese bubbles. For thicker crusts, increase baking time to 20 to 22 minutes.

Notes

  • Use warm water (about 100-110°F) to activate the yeast effectively.
  • The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable; avoid adding too much flour to keep it tender.
  • If freezing dough, thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before using for best results.
  • You can customize toppings to suit your taste preferences.
  • Using pizza flour or bread flour enhances the dough’s chewiness and texture but all-purpose flour works well too.
  • The quick rise yeast significantly reduces rising time compared to regular yeast.
