Ingredients
Dough
- 1 recipe Homemade Pizza Crust
Toppings & Seasoning
- 2 teaspoons olive oil (or as needed to coat baking sheet)
- 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning (divided)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella
- ¼ cup shredded Parmesan
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Move the oven rack to the lowest position and preheat the oven to 500 degrees F to ensure a hot environment for crispy, golden breadsticks.
- Prepare Dough: Place a sheet of parchment paper on a cutting board or flat surface. Put the pizza dough in the center and sprinkle it lightly with flour to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin into a 14 by 10-inch rectangle. Adjust the shape by hand if necessary to get a nice even rectangle.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Drizzle approximately 2 teaspoons of olive oil onto a large rimmed baking sheet and spread it evenly with your hands. Carefully peel the dough off the parchment paper and transfer it onto the baking sheet. Gently pat and push the dough back into a 14 by 10-inch shape; it should not cover the entire sheet.
- Add Toppings: Mix the melted butter with minced garlic. Pour this mixture evenly over the dough and spread using a knife or the back of a spoon. Sprinkle ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning and salt evenly over the dough, followed by the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Finish by sprinkling the remaining ½ teaspoon of Italian seasoning evenly over the top of the cheese.
- Bake and Slice: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and turns golden brown. Remove from the oven and let the breadstick rest for a minute or two. Use a pizza cutter to slice into 18 strips by cutting 6 times lengthwise and 3 times crosswise.
Notes
- Use parchment paper and flour to prevent the dough from sticking during rolling.
- Ensure oven is fully preheated for best crust texture.
- You can adjust cheese amounts or seasoning to your taste preferences.
- Let breadsticks cool slightly before slicing to keep cheese from sliding off.
- Serve warm for best flavor and texture.
