Ingredients
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 6 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 3 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Mushrooms
- 5 cups sliced mushrooms
- 2 tbsp butter (for sautéing mushrooms)
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Topping (Optional)
- Grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with butter or non-stick spray to ensure easy removal after baking.
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef, breaking it into small crumbles until fully browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Once cooked, remove from heat and set aside.
- Make the Cream Cheese Mixture: Using a food processor, blend the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, blending well after each addition to create a smooth, creamy mixture. Pour this mixture into the cooked ground beef and stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Cook the Mushrooms: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown. Season with salt, pepper, and dried parsley for added flavor.
- Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef and cream cheese mixture evenly in the greased casserole dish. Layer the sautéed mushrooms on top of this mixture. Optionally, sprinkle grated cheese over the mushrooms for an extra cheesy crust.
- Bake the Casserole: Place the assembled casserole into the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and the bake is set. After baking, remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to settle.
