Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of shredded mozzarella and parmesan)
- 12 slices pepperoni
- 1/4 cup sugar free tomato sauce
Instructions
- Heat the Skillet: Warm a nonstick skillet over medium heat to prepare for cooking the cheese piles.
- Cook Cheese Piles: Place about 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese in flat piles in the skillet, leaving room between each pile. Cook for about one minute, allowing the cheese to start bubbling.
- Add Pepperoni: When the cheese is bubbly, place one slice of pepperoni on top of each cheese pile. Cook for another minute or until the edges of the cheese begin to brown and crisp up.
- Flip and Finish Cooking: Use a spatula to flip each cheese and pepperoni disc so the pepperoni is now on the bottom. Cook for about 30 seconds until slightly crispy, then remove from the skillet and place pepperoni side up on a plate.
- Serve: Serve the pepperoni and cheese crisps warm with sugar-free tomato sauce for dipping. Repeat the process until all cheese and pepperoni slices are cooked.
Notes
- Use a nonstick skillet to prevent sticking and for even cooking.
- Cheese piles should not be too close to allow space for spreading and crisping.
- You can experiment with cheese blends like mozzarella and parmesan for varied flavor and texture.
- Serve immediately for best crispiness; leftovers can lose their texture.
- Sugar-free tomato sauce keeps the snack low in carbs and suitable for diabetic-friendly diets.
