Ingredients
For the Pizza Rolls
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade) – enough to make 12 squares
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of salt
- Olive oil (for spraying)
For Serving
- Marinara sauce (for dipping) – 1/2 cup
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Collect all necessary ingredients including pizza dough, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, Italian seasoning, salt, olive oil, and marinara sauce.
- Prepare Dough: If using store-bought dough, let it rest at room temperature for 20 minutes to make it easier to work with. If homemade, roll out the dough into an even thickness.
- Cut Dough Squares: Roll out the dough and cut it into 3×3 inch squares using a knife or pizza cutter.
- Fill Rolls: Place a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt in the center of each dough square.
- Seal Rolls: Fold the dough over the filling to form a roll and crimp the edges firmly to seal and prevent leakage during cooking.
- Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and allow it to preheat for 5 minutes for optimal cooking.
- Prepare Air Fryer Basket: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil to prevent sticking, then arrange the pizza rolls in a single layer, leaving space between them for air circulation.
- Cook Pizza Rolls: Air fry the rolls for 8-10 minutes, shaking or flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crisping and browning.
- Cool and Serve: Let the pizza rolls cool slightly to avoid burning your mouth. Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- You can customize the filling with other ingredients like cooked sausage, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
- Make sure not to overfill the dough squares to avoid the filling leaking out during cooking.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake these in the oven at 400°F (205°C) for 12-15 minutes.
- Use fresh mozzarella for a creamier texture or shredded low-moisture mozzarella for easier handling.
- For a crispier finish, lightly brush the tops with olive oil before air frying.
