Ingredients
Sauce and Shrimp
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon freshly minced garlic
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
Pizza
- 1 (12-inch) ready-made pizza crust (Boboli thin crust recommended)
- 2 cups shredded Italian cheese blend, divided
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it reaches the perfect temperature for baking the pizza crust and melting the cheese thoroughly.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter and olive oil together. Add the freshly minced garlic and cook while stirring constantly for about 1 minute until fragrant, taking care not to burn the garlic.
- Add Wine and Seasonings: Pour in the white wine, then add oregano and lemon juice. Stir to combine all the ingredients and let the mixture simmer gently for 1 minute to meld the flavors.
- Cook the Shrimp: Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet and cook just until they turn pink and are opaque, which usually takes a few minutes. This ensures the shrimp remain tender and flavorful.
- Remove Shrimp and Set Sauce Aside: Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked shrimp to a plate, leaving the buttery sauce in the skillet. Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside to pause the cooking process.
- Par-Bake the Pizza Crust: Place the pizza crust on a baking sheet and bake it alone in the preheated oven for 4 minutes. This step helps create a crispy base that won’t get soggy from the toppings.
- Assemble the Pizza: Remove the crust from the oven and brush it evenly with about 1/4 cup of the reserved sauce from the pan. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of the shredded Italian cheese blend over the sauce, then evenly distribute the cooked shrimp on top. Finally, sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese over the shrimp.
- Season the Pizza: Evenly sprinkle the pizza with 1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning to enhance the flavor profile.
- Bake the Pizza: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Add Final Toppings: Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle the 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese over the top for a sharp, salty finish. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use a good quality white wine that you enjoy drinking for the best flavor.
- Ensure the shrimp are not overcooked to maintain a tender texture.
- To make it spicier, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce while cooking garlic.
- For a healthier option, use a whole wheat or cauliflower crust.
- Fresh parsley garnish adds a pop of color and freshness but can be omitted if unavailable.
