Ingredients
Salad Ingredients
- 400 g strawberries, trimmed and halved
- 400 g cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 ball of mozzarella, torn
- Small bunch of fresh basil leaves, picked
Dressing
- Extra virgin olive oil, to drizzle
- Balsamic vinegar, to drizzle
- Maldon salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the tomatoes: Halve the cherry tomatoes and sprinkle them generously with salt. Set them aside for a few minutes to draw out excess moisture and enhance their flavor.
- Prepare strawberries and mozzarella: Trim the strawberry tops and cut the strawberries in half. Tear the mozzarella into bite-sized pieces. Pick the basil leaves from the stems.
- Combine salad ingredients: Drain any liquid released from the tomatoes and add them to a large mixing bowl. Add the prepared strawberries, torn mozzarella, and basil leaves to the bowl.
- Season and dress: Season the salad well with Maldon salt and freshly ground black pepper. Drizzle extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad to taste. Toss gently to combine the flavors.
- Serve: Transfer the salad to a serving dish or individual plates and serve immediately for the freshest taste.
Notes
- For a more practical salad, remove strawberry tops before serving to make it easier to eat.
- Use fresh, high-quality mozzarella for the best texture and flavor.
- Maldon salt adds a nice flaky texture; if unavailable, use any coarse sea salt.
- Adjust balsamic vinegar and olive oil quantities according to your taste preference.
- This salad is best served fresh and should be consumed shortly after assembling to preserve the texture of the ingredients.
