A comforting and easy-to-make Tater Tot Casserole featuring seasoned ground beef, green beans, creamy mushroom soup, and topped with crispy tater tots and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for a family dinner or casual gathering.

  • Total Time: 45-50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetables and Soup

  • 15 oz can green beans, drained
  • 10.75 oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup

Toppings

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the casserole.
  2. Brown Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add the diced onions and minced garlic and sauté until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  3. Season: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, then season the mixture with salt and pepper to your taste. Mix well to combine all flavors.
  4. Layer: Transfer the cooked beef mixture into a baking dish. Spread the condensed cream of mushroom soup evenly over the beef. Add the drained green beans on top of the soup layer, then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the green beans. Finally, arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown, crispy, and the casserole is bubbly throughout.
  6. Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve hot and enjoy the comforting flavors of this classic dish.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery soup for a different flavor.
  • Add extra vegetables like corn or peas for more nutrition and color.
  • Use turkey or chicken ground meat for a leaner alternative.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the soup and Worcestershire sauce are gluten free.
  • Let the casserole rest a few minutes after baking to set for easier serving.
