Ingredients
Grinder Salad
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 head iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/3 cup banana peppers, sliced
- 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Sandwich
- 3 sub rolls
- 1/4 pound salami
- 1/4 pound pepperoni
- 1/4 pound turkey
- 1/4 pound provolone cheese
- 1 tomato, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare the grinder salad: In a large bowl, combine mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a creamy dressing. Stir in shredded iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced red onions, and sliced banana peppers until all ingredients are evenly coated and combined.
- Assemble the sandwiches: Slice the sub rolls open and layer salami, pepperoni, turkey, and provolone cheese evenly inside each roll, creating hearty, flavorful layers.
- Broil the sandwiches: Preheat your oven’s broiler setting. Place the assembled sandwiches on a baking sheet and broil them for 2 to 3 minutes or until the provolone cheese melts and becomes slightly bubbly and golden.
- Add fresh toppings: Remove the sandwiches from the oven carefully. Place sliced tomato on top of each sandwich. Generously spoon the prepared grinder salad over the tomatoes, adding a tangy and savory crunch.
- Serve: Close the sandwiches gently to keep everything in place. Optionally, cut each sandwich in half before serving to make them easier to enjoy.
Notes
- Use fresh, crispy iceberg lettuce for the best texture in the grinder salad.
- Adjust the amount of banana peppers to your preferred spice level.
- Broil the sandwiches carefully to prevent burning; cheese should just melt and bubble.
- Adding the tomato after broiling keeps it fresh and juicy without getting soggy.
- Make sure to close the sandwich gently to prevent the toppings from spilling out.
