These Turkey Lettuce Wraps are a quick, flavorful, and healthy meal option featuring lean ground turkey seasoned with garlic, ginger, and a savory-sweet hoisin sauce. Served in fresh Bibb lettuce leaves, they make a light and satisfying appetizer or main dish perfect for a speedy weeknight dinner.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Protein

  • lb. lean ground turkey (or ground chicken)

Sauces and Seasonings

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lower-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons roasted red chili paste
  • Pinch of salt

Vegetables

  • 4 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 8 oz can sliced water chestnuts, drained and coarsely chopped
  • 12 Bibb/Butter lettuce leaves

Instructions

  1. Cook the turkey mixture: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lean ground turkey, minced garlic, and ground ginger. Cook for about 6 minutes, stirring and crumbling the meat, until the turkey is fully browned and cooked through.
  2. Mix the filling: Transfer the cooked turkey mixture to a large bowl. Add the thinly sliced green onions and coarsely chopped water chestnuts. Stir well to combine and set aside.
  3. Prepare and add sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together hoisin sauce, lower-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and roasted red chili paste until smooth. Drizzle this sauce over the turkey mixture and toss thoroughly so that all ingredients are evenly coated.
  4. Assemble the wraps: Spoon approximately ¼ cup of the turkey mixture onto each Bibb or Butter lettuce leaf. Serve immediately and enjoy these fresh, crunchy, and flavorful wraps.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, reduce or omit the roasted red chili paste.
  • Use ground chicken as an alternative to turkey if preferred.
  • These wraps can be meal-prepped by storing the turkey mixture and lettuce leaves separately in airtight containers for up to 2 days.
  • Add shredded carrots or chopped bell peppers for extra crunch and nutrition.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free.
