This Tzatziki Chicken Salad is a refreshing and flavorful Mediterranean-inspired dish featuring tender grilled chicken breasts seasoned with oregano, combined with crisp romaine lettuce, juicy cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, and tangy feta cheese. Drizzled with Greek salad dressing and topped with creamy tzatziki sauce, this salad is perfect for a light yet satisfying meal in just 40 minutes.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 2 large chicken breasts (boneless and skinless)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Salad

  • 4 cups romaine lettuce (chopped)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1 small red onion (thinly sliced)
  • ½ English cucumber (sliced into half moons)
  • ½ cup Kalamata olives (pitted)

Dressing and Toppings

  • ½ cup Greek salad dressing
  • 2 cups tzatziki sauce
  • ½ cup feta cheese (crumbled)
  • Chopped fresh dill (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Grill the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes to retain juices, then slice into strips.
  2. Assemble the Salad: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, cucumber half moons, and pitted Kalamata olives. Pour the Greek salad dressing over the vegetables and toss gently to evenly coat all the ingredients.
  3. Finish The Salad: Arrange the grilled chicken strips on top of the tossed salad. Spoon generous dollops of chilled tzatziki sauce over the chicken and salad for creaminess and flavor. Finally, sprinkle crumbled feta cheese over the salad and add some freshly chopped dill if desired, for added aroma and presentation.

Notes

  • Make sure the chicken is cooked thoroughly to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for food safety.
  • Use good quality Greek salad dressing or make your own for authentic flavor.
  • Tzatziki can be homemade or store-bought; ensure it is well chilled before serving.
  • This salad can be served as a complete meal or as a side dish for Mediterranean-themed dinners.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; store dressing and tzatziki separately for best freshness.
