Ingredients
For the Chicken Burgers
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking
For Serving
- 4 burger buns
- Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, or extra cheese
Instructions
- Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped fresh spinach, shredded white cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix everything until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated without overworking the meat.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion carefully into a patty approximately 3 to 4 inches in diameter, ensuring they are compact but not too dense.
- Cook: Heat a skillet over medium heat and drizzle it with olive oil to prevent sticking. Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes on each side. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) to ensure they are fully cooked.
- Rest: Once cooked, transfer the patties onto a plate and allow them to rest for a few minutes. This resting period helps redistribute the juices for a juicy burger.
- Serve: Place the rested chicken patties on burger buns. Add optional toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, or extra cheese according to preference. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious homemade white cheddar spinach chicken burgers.
Notes
- Make sure not to overmix the chicken mixture to keep the burgers tender.
- Use a thermometer to verify proper cooking to avoid undercooked poultry.
- Feel free to customize toppings to suit your taste preferences.
- If the mixture feels too wet, add a bit more breadcrumbs to help bind it.
- These burgers can also be cooked on a grill using indirect heat for similar results.
